Arcos de la Frontera is the main White Village in the area, dating back to Stone Age, when settler used caves in rock to dwell, but the present town dates back to Moorish times from the Eighth Century. The labyrinth of streets with whitewashed walls is one of the romantic reminders from those centuries, in which Arcos became an independent Taifa or kingdom. During the walk, we will visit either Santa María´s or San Pedro's Church.
Nearby, we will find acave formed four million of years ago by a stream of water that emerged from the rock and formed a waterfall. It is important because it provides insight into the final moments of Neanderthals and their possible relationship with the Cro-Magnons. More recent Neanderthal technology has been found here, perhaps from 24,000 years ago. In the time of the Cro-Magnons, the dome of the vestibular room was closed and was used as a workshop and home.

Suggested Itinerary:

09:30 Meet at Paseo de Andalucía roundabout, where we will start our walking tour up the old town.

10:30 Visit of one of the churches and walk back down.

11:30 Start of the trail to the Cave, after a short drive from Arcos. For a minibus, van or car, the trail will be done including Mirador del Embalse de Guadalcaciín and not in the case of a bus, due to the trail being longer as drop off has to be done further away.

14:30 Finish of the tour.
